I have a cartech clutch. It works pretty good but the modified stock master they sold me with it won't hold setting.I installed a mcleod billet master a month or so ago.It lasted maybe two to three weeks and now car won't go into reverse and all gears are not going in well at all.I was thinking of maybe going with a matching mcleod clutch but now paranoid as heard these mcleod masters are not reliable. I am not sure what to go with.Have planned mods for more than z06 can handle.Hear luk gold series think its called is also very streetable and holds pretty good.these exedy sound nice and don't need adjustable masters or even drill mod supposedly. They are super pricey though.and not sure how streetable they are.

Exedy must be the most streetable clutch avail. Barley stiffer than stock, and it's not even broken in. Holds like a *****. No drill mod nec., no adjustable master nec., it comes with an awesome flywheel. Just get an updated slave and you're set! VERY streetable!

I didn't see anything about power ratings on the exedy..what is rating between single and dual disc or whatever their top clutch is called and how streetable is their highest hp one.I don't want high pedal pressure but want the next clutch I buy to be my last clutch.

They I think are only rated in torque as that is what really makes the clutch slip. The single disk is 650 ft.lbs and the twin disk is 1100 ft.lbs. if I remember correctly.

Ok but if this grabs hard how does it drive in heavy or slow creeping traffic. Can you slip it a bit or what..? So the pedal pressure is close to stock..So no sore leg from driving thru rush hour..?

I want to know this too. How would the Spec, McLeod, and Exedy compare as far as driving during rush hour? Are they all bearable?

My Spec stg 3 was fine, it did have chatter, but not a lot. The Exedy is a bit stiffer pedal so you get more of a workout there. The exedy on day one was smoother that the Spec stg 3 after 3000 miles.

I don't know about the other two. I have the Exedy hyper single. It's not even broken in yet, and peddle pressure is barley more than stock, it's supposed to soften up as it breaks in. My stock was very mushy though (83,000 on it). It's completely rebuildable. So it's the last clutch you'll ever have to buy. They make a rebuild kit. I think It's the only clutch on the market that's rebuildable. I didn't do the drill mod or aftermarket master, and I'm able to slip it in a little. It'd rather be in or out, but I can slip it in at idle, finesse it over the speedbumps with hardly any chatter, taking off from stop is EXTREMELY easy and SMOOTH! and it's only got about 120 miles on it (mostly freeway). With drill mod or aftermarket master, it may not be as smooth. Moving more fluid, faster makes the exedy very touchy. Their design is different than the other manufacturers.

FWIW A freind of mine with a speed shop had the spec 3 clutch checked out and the Spec 3 uses a stock spec pressure plate. Mine is about toast already with under 3000 miles on it. I speed shiift alot though.

I'm not sure about the EXEDY, but I know for a fact that McLoed clutches are rebuildable!

I broke 3 SPEC Stage III's before realizing the error of my way and going with a McLeod. http://www.mcleodind.com/

Two of the SPEC's had never even been to the track. A friend of mine had his STAGE III explode and blow through his bellhousing. These were on LT1 cars, but it doesnt matter, quality is quality and STAR has poor quality control. They had great customer service up till the 3rd clutch and told me not to call back!

they have a 20% off slae so it came out to $1028.20, they didnt have it in stock and I needed it ASAP, so I got Jegs to price match it.
They do have it in stock now. It was out of stock, but it's back in.

Great clutch. Local guy has it on a single turbo Firebird right now. He just ordered from them this morning, and they said they do have more.

The street twin seems to be just fine in rush hour stop/start traffic for me. The only time I don't like it is after a hard leg work-out at the gym when they feel like rubber already.

It holds what you throw at it. No question.
