Default Spec flywheels Steel or aluminum???

I am trying to decide which flywheel to buy with my new Spec stage 3 clutch, it would be nice to save some weight off the car with an aluminum flywheel, but I'm not sure if it will have any negative effects on the car. I don't auto cross, mainly drag/street race, not sure if that matters. What would be better for me, a steel or aluminum flywheel? Any help is greatly appreciated.

I was told that aluminum was mainly for autocross, Sooo if you are mainly street/strip then steel is the way to go. With that aluminum you are gonna rampup(rev) real fast!!!

Steel, I believe the billet steel flywheels will still save you some weight over the stocker.

I don't know the stock weight but the fidanza aluminum one weighs in at 12.5 pounds. That is pretty light in my book.

The SPEC alum weighs in around 12-13lbs. The steel is 23.5 lbs. If you are looking to cut some weight and rev a bit faster look at the aluminum. I would not get the aluminum for heavy track abuse. The good part about the spec alum flywheel is that it has a removable wear plate that you can unscrew when you want to change the plate.

We have them on special all the time (All clutch kits are in stock ready to ship same day):

SC093i Stage 3 Iron Clutch Kit: $500 + Free Shipping

thanks for the info, how hard can I beat on the aluminum f/w? I plan on putting some serious abuse through the drivetrain!

We have used the alum flywheels on a lot of applications. Right now we have a car using one pushing 580ft lbs of torque on nitrous with no problems yet. Most of the high HP cars we do opt towards the steel billet.
