Muscling Into Reverse
Buy used car, put on 1800 miles, and then boom! One night you can barely shove it into first. But this does not pertain to my question. I read a related article, the "reverse celeniod", which to the authors discription made shifting into reverse quite the problem- sometimes taking two hands. (Have yet to find it this hard). In myfirst T-56 that is now KIA, it was a little hard to put it into reverse. A friend of mine at a local auto shop thought just by soldering a piece of wire on either SKIP SHIFT wires would solve the annoying factory gas-saver, but it did not. Afterwards, I found ti hard to put in reverse, at this, he said "Just put it in first, and then throw it into reverse." This did open up reverse, but SKIP SHIFT was still a nuisance, and now I added another.
Months went by, no problem, and then the T-56 blew. My real question is, in my new T-56, I still have the same reverse shifting problem- still tough. Put in a B&M Ripper- possibly a problem? Dont know- looking for help.

Is it harder to put in reverse with the car off? If it's the same as when the car is on, your reverse lockout isn't working.

I'm having the same problem after getting a new clutch installed. Is there a way to adjust this, or am I stuck taking it back to the place that installed it?
