no 6th to 5th??

no 6th to 5th?? went racing last night and missed 3rd....now i cant go from 6th to 5th. i can do the 6th-4th-5th thing but when i shift from 4th to 5th there is a light grind every time...before i had this problem it would pop out of 6th gear if i didnt hold the shifter in it..i have done some searches but found no one with the exact same problem(such as having grinding from 4th to 5th when doing 6-4-5. i need help because i may try to take the tranny out and do it myself( i replaced the clutch myself so i think its feasable)but i dont want to go buying all these parts i dont need. how much and where could i get the parts that may be obvious that i will need??? sorry for the long post, but i wanted to be specific as possible. any help will be greatly appreciated. thanks
Does it work when it is hot and warmed up? Could be a bad spring or your shifter may be the problem if it just pops out. Hope it isn't some shattered teeth 
I have seen the manuals before, I have one I bought from GM. It has directions. It is not fun. My advice is get a friend to help.

ya im having the same exact problem, First my sixth started poping out but now it just wont go in, and im starting to have the same problem with fifth.
I just opened my trans and found a few little parts broken I don't know what they are yet. I just took my trans to the shop so they could get the first peice off of the shaft with the press. this is my first time doing this, and I have a friend who knows what hes doing helping me. I refuse to take it to a shop and get charged $1600 when I can buy a new trans for that amount. I'm gonna find out later today what exactly it is that broke. So I'll let ya know.

the wierd thing about it is that 6th gear doesnt pop out anymore...i just have the problem with going 6-5. i think it only grinds going 4th to 5th when i do the 6-4-5 shift..
