SPEC stage 4/4i
Stock clutch didn't seem to like the T-rex too much, so it's time. My car is a weekend toy/some track car.
I see ALOT of info on the spec 3i, and found several posts on the 4/4i. My question is, how is the 4/4i on the street? Has anyone driven a 4 vs a 3? From the few posts I found, the 4 isn't bad on the street at all. Why is it not recommended for street use? Will the 4i wear a lot quicker than a 3i or something?

Anyway, the added HP came mostly from the addition of a new SPEC Stage 5 clutch. Which is surprisingly VERY streetable. SPEC says that all of their new design Stage 5's have great street manners. Another thing we liked about it, was the fact that we didn't have to do the typical 400 mile "Break-In" of "Normal Driving" that has to be done with the Stage 1-4 clutches. We installed it, drove it down the street for about 10 minutes, and pulled it on the dyno. We also had ET Streets on the car this time, and staged the car as far back on the rollers as we could to prevent tirespin. It apparently worked, though the wrinkle-wall tires typically rob a car of 10-15rwhp.
thats the stage 5 and that direct from QMP project formula here the site if you want to check it out www.ls1motorsports.com

The Stage 4/5 do not have spring dampeners on the clutch. It is harder to slip in traffic and more towards an on/off switch. However it is a personal preference. The Stage 3 and 4 series do not have any difference in power handling (3 vs 4 / 3i vs 4i). We have the Stage 3i's in stock ready to ship same day @ $490 + free ship. The Stage 3 X-Pads are $400 + free ship.

TTPMatt,
Can you PM me a price on a stage 5 w/ steel flywheel and a 3i with a steel flywheel? (Still debating which route to go) Do the SPEC packages with flywheels come balanced? How would I go about getting it balanced if not? Thanks.

I'm working on a new setup thats going to need crazy clamping power... Somewhere close to 1000fwhp and comparable torque. I like driving a rough car... my interior is stripped out, lope etc... I don't need street manners. Just street drivabilty I have a 3I right now but I know I'll need more later. Would a 5 be better for me?

Hey Matt have you ever heard of a Type F clutch disk. That's what spec recomended for me I have the stg3 now and it won't hold, spec says the type F is like a step up from the 3i. It's still a sprung disk and is good for 900tq.

I have about 100 miles on my new stage 4 Spec and to me it is no different than my old stage 3. I do not notice any chatter whatsoever. It may be that my car is too damn loud(currently stripped interior) and I do not notice it though. After the 4 blows, I think that I will go with the stage 5. The 5 seems to be more streetable than most would imagine...at least from the few reviews I have seen on it.
