Default Spec Stage 5 not holding power.

Well my Stage 5 has about 6000 miles on it and it slips on the spray. The clutch ahs always released almost at the very top of the pedal and I always thought that as weird. I went round and round with Spec and my mechanic and they said to shim it because the mechanic didnt put one in when it was installed. Well they put the shim in and said that the clutch wont even engage now and i have to pay them to put it back to normal. What gives with this? This clutch for one shouldnt be slipping and two why is it releasing so high up on the pedal?

first do you have an adjustable master cylinder.
second i would think that 6000 miles is a reasonable life
span for that clutch.
what flywheel are you running?
are you running the stock bellhousing?

No on the master cylinder and stock bellhousing and stock flywheel. As far as it being a normal lifespan Spec cant believe its slipping already. They are replacing the clutch disk at no charge because somethings not right.

i would take a close look at the stock flywheel, an iron disc can chew away the clamping surface of a flywheel and pressure plate, not so much the plate but i would instpect the flywheel being it's a stock peice. also look at an adjustable master, you can then adjust where the clutch is stepping in at.

just my .02 but i would seriously consider getting yourself a billet flywheel and a mcleod blowproof bellhousing or a blanket at least. with that kind of power you have yourself a recipe for disaster.

check my sig, i have a steel bellhousing and sfi flywheel, i like my legs where they are.

When we take the Stage 5 out we will look at the flywheel and see whats going on with it. I dont know if I am going to have the cash for another flywheel and bellhousing. How much are they anyway?

flywheel will run you about $325 and the bellhousing is $425.
