Default Won't stay in 1st or 3rd.

Got a problem that's pissing me off. Driving to work today and shift from 2nd to 3rd and as I release the clutch there is a grinding noise and the shifter pops out and back to neutral. Try putting it back into 3rd and the same thing happens I pull over and take a look at my shifter to make sure its all connected right and didn't see anything wrong. Start the car up, put in first, let off the clutch and the shifter comes flying back out and grinds like a SOB. I take off in second, since I'm on the freeway and need to get to work. I'm stumped...and pissed! Could it be my clutch, a fork or something with the synchro? I have a pro 5.0 shifter and it has always been difficult to put the car into third. Also the car is under warranty, so hopefully, it will not be too bad. Does anyone know if the aftermarket shifter will void my warranty? Any information would be a big help.

Thanks

Well no matter what the trans is gonna have to come apart. It sounds like a shift fork possible synchro problem.

Thanks for the reply. Do you know if the aftermarket shifter will void any of my warranty?

Likely - put back the stock shifter just in case.
