Default Spec Stage 3 question

I am looking to get a clutch pretty soon and was thinking about getting the Spec 3. My question is, I have a brand new stock flywheel and was wondering if it will be ok to use instead of purchasing the billet steel flywheel made by Spec. What are your opinions on this and guys who have the Spec 3 with stock flywheel how is the combo holding up? I already have the updated slave and adj master anything else needed for the install?

Do not buy the Spec. Their quality control seems horrible. I had nothing but prolems with mine. My RAM clutch was much better. Save yourself money and headaches.

Take all the negative with a grain of salt...

I've had my Spec 3 and resurfaced stock flywheel for 6k now with absolutely no problems.

The resurface flywheel worked great with the Spec without having to use any shims. I also have updated GM slave and master cylinder.

Like I said when I first bought it... "This clutch grabs like Michael Jackson at a playground"

I have been hearing alot of good and bad things about Spec clutchs. Its either a hit or miss and I think that has to do with the install. I was looking into getting the Ram VDS 980 or 910 but don't have that kind of cash to shell out right now. I found a killer deal on the Spec Stage 3 clutch alone and the clutch and flywheel kit as a whole. Just deciding if I should save the extra money and just use my flywheel. Any more opinions on this guys?

I'm using a 3I with a stock flywheel and have about 12k on it. It still holds like hell and it is probably the next clutch ill get too if im ever capable to kill this before going to an automatic set up. I have about 80 passes on it and about 50 street races... Holds awesome... I also only had my flywheel resurfaced.

What gears do you guys have. I currently have the stock 3.42's and I've read that more gear the better because it causes less chatter.

I have around 10,000 on my spec stage 3 and Billit flywheel and have had NO trouble with it at all. And there is a lot of Track time on it, plus a lot of street abuse. I drive the car like it is suppose to be drivin Not chatter after the first 400 miles I had it.

I have the stage 3 with the billit aluminum flywheel and it grabs great. I've got about 1200 miles on it. The only thing you won't like about the spec stage 3 is the break in period........It SUCKS!!

My SPEC3I was toast as of last night. 800miles on it. It was professionally installed and broken in. Had to have the car towed. I'm still investigating the cause of this, but I suspect a broken disc. If I get another SPEC it'll be a 4 or higher... I might just got with another manufacturer.

I am on my 2nd STG 3 X pad with aluminum flywheel. My first one broke after 5 k miles, no races or track time. Broke out one of the main springs. Both clutches have the horrible Noise that comes when the car is cold, sound like a pelican being choked as you engage the clutch. The rep at Spec told me they fixed the noise problem and the X pad was to be chatter free??? And my chatter is and always has been really bad. I broke them both in properly, needless to say I am getting a new clutch soon to replace this POS.

I'm really stuck on what to do... I don't want to replace this one with another SPEC and have to pay to have it replaced again... thats ridiculous! I'm not even making anywhere near the max power rating of that clutch either.

Damn alot of bad inquiries about this clutch. What other clutch does everyone recommend or is going to after the Spec 3. I have heard good things about the Ram VDS clutches.

Do you by any chance have the GM part number for the master cylinder? I already have the slave. Thank you!

According to my notes: GM PART # 12570277

This part has not been revised to my knowledge from the 98's. But if yours' is trashed, this is it.
