Default Need help, Reverse lockout, Cruise Control

Hey guys ... I swapped my auto to an M6 and it's been working good except for 2 things. I've never been able to have the reverse lockout work nor the cruise control. I kept my a4 harnes. Can anyone please help out. I've done the search and couldn't come up with instructions to wire them.

thanks

Might have better luck in the swap forum, but you're gonna need to run the wires from the rev. noid to the correct pin(s) at the PCM. Cruise, I'm not sure.

there is also under hood wiring and a fuse for both. you may have wanted
to change at least part of the harness.

I assume you checked the other boards you posted this. Use the brake circuit to wire the reverse solenoid. This is not really too tough to do.

I can tell you what wires to run to the reverse solenoid when I get home and look at mine. (can't recall at the moment.) You do have to run a wire to your PCM (#32 pin I think) to allow your cruise to work. I've been meaning to pull out my center console for a day or two anyway. This will be a good excuse. I'll let you know something later tonight if no one else comes up with a clear answer before then.

That would be really awesome. I would appreciate it I tried tapping into the black/yellow wire in the auto harness by the trans and switching pin 46 to 44 but it didn't work.

Let me know when you get a chance

Ok, here is what I did. I had the M6 harness, but as long as you have the pigtail plug for the reverse lockout, it should work just the same. These wires are from the six pin connector that went to the Automatic shifter.

The brown and lime green wires go to the reverse lockout
plug. I just made a tiny slit in the rubber shift boot and used some well
insulated speaker wire to make an extension.

The purple w/white stripe and the dark green wires go to
the clutch pedal switch. I used speaker wire again and ran them under
the carpet over to the clutch pedal switch.

The Orange w/black stripe wire and the black w/white stripe
wire is supposed to go to the brake switch from what I've read, but I
couldn't get anything to happen with them. Be careful with these though.
I didn't tape them off and either let them touch each other or ground out
and I melted about 6" of each wire after replacing a blown fuse for my
turn signals. Don't know what they do exactly. I think once you get
the cruise control wire run, that they may act as a interrupter switch or
something from the brake pedal, but that's just purely a guess and you
may not need to hook them up at all. They don't seem to control
anything as far as I can tell.

After hooking everything up this way, my back hatch worked again and
my reverse lockout worked as well as my reverse lights. I don't know if
everything will work the same with the A4 harness, but the reverse lockout
should work the same as well as the cruise control as far as I can tell.
(On a side note, My cruise control works fine if I hook my A4
computer back up, but I lose my reverse lockout.)

As far as the cruise control, I asked the same question and here is the answer I got,
I believe the problem you are having is due to the clutch pedal position signal. The wire for this goes to pin 32 of the Blue connector on your ECM.
This wire would not be present with the auto setup, so you will probably have to ad it, or move one of the wires you are no longer using in order to have it.
The signal needed is 12V in to the ECM when the clutch engaged, and an open signal when you pres the pedal. This is probably why you have no C/C because the signal is open all the time now.
I haven't tried this yet, but it sounds like it should work.

Hope this helps some.

You shouldn't even have to get that into it.The standard M6 harness has a black plug for the revese solenoid and a white plug for skip shift solenoid. The connectors on the solenoids are corresponding( like they have a purpose!) - match the color plug to the solenoid connector.
