Default '01/'02 guys, how many miles on your stock clutch?

i have a 98 t/a and it has 72,xxx on it and my clutch seems to holding just fine, pretty much most of the time. however, i am currently adding a few bolt-ons, headers, intake.... i was going to go with the ls6 clutch to hold a little tighter, i drive this car everyday too. i take really good care of the clutch. mine is fine, but it justs doesn't want to hold all to well after a pass or 2 with some good traction. i run street tread and that was just with the cat-back and lid.

let me know....

The more mods you ad, the worse it'll get... I'm still running the stock clutch in mine and I'm at 23k miles. It was holding ok at the track until I added headers, gears, and the cam. Now it's starting to slip, and I couldn't launch above 4500 rpms otherwise the clutch would just burn...

My 01 had 91K on it. It was sticking to the floor though even after one pass at the track.

now, i thought that your hydraulics were supposed to release the clutch quicker and prevent it from sticking to the floor.... should i even upgrade my hydraulics?? is it really that necessary?

In the process of rebuilding my T56 I put in a new LS6 Clutch replacing my factory LS6 clutch disc. The original disc had quite alot of life left in it and was not worn badly at all. I still replaced it as it's not fun pulling the tranny and putting the SOB back in place. Mind you the original disc only had 20K on it but I have been making 376rwhp and higher on the clutch since 4K miles.

Even with the upgraded hydraulics, the restriction is in the line between the master and slave. Besides, stuff doesn't last forever. With a car that has that many miles, you might as well just replace the stuff anyway while you're in there - even with the 01/02 cars.

Has anyone been able to verify without a doubt that the '01+ F-bodies received an actual LS6 clutch or just one that is similar in appearance to one? On the boards it appears that its a true LS6 clutch while I've seen a few opinions that it isn't? From what I recall the clutch discs are different between the '01+'s and the "real" LS6's... then again it's just what I've read

Suparich, My stock friction pad had the same part number as the new LS6 clutch I ordered from Pace.
