transmission mount problems
transmission mount problems I just put a new mount from Advanced on my car 2 weeks ago. For 2 weeks, the new mount fixed the shifter bobbing, and the transmission quit smacking against the frame on hard shifts. But the car started acting like it had a worn mount in it recently, so I ordered a Prothane mount from Thunder Racing. I went to put it on last night only to discover that the new mount from Advanced was perfectly fine, no rips, tears, or any soft areas in the rubber like my original one had when it went bad, and there were no bolts that had become loose either. I put the Advanced mount back in hoping to get more use out of it while it was still good. Everything was good last night driving around, then when I drove to school this morning, the shifter was back to dancing around like it had before. What's the deal? Am I really doing something wrong with such an easy install or are aftermarket mounts really that bad? Should I just ditch the Advanced mount and hope the Prothane mount works right? thanks

Alright, I said screw it and put the Prothane mount on. I knew to expect extra vibration and a little noise, but man I wasn't expecting this much! The exhaust note kinda reverborates with the sound/vibration. It also vibrates more if I get on it hard. I've done a search on this and saw that what I'm getting is normal and that they calm down after a couple weeks, but how much of the vibration goes away? I can tolerate the extra noise, but the vibration through the seats would get annoying fast on the interstate. I'll give it a couple weeks, and if it doesn't get better, I might just get a 1LE mount.
I will say though the shifter and is rock solid now with basically no bobbing and WOT hard shifts don't make seem to make the tranny move at all now.
