Default What's Wrong With This Car?

I posted this on LS1.com yesterday and haven't got any replies so I figured I'd try here.

I was on my way to work and I was getting on it a little.
As I shifted into 4th gear it didn't feel right and when I let off the clutch the car wanted to shake and it felt like the clutch was slipping. So I put it in 5th and it cleared up.
When I went to leave work I couldn't get the car into reverse and when I got to about 2500 rpm in any gear the car would shake and the clutch would slip.
Anybody know what these symptoms mean?

Due to a conversation at work, at this time I'm assuming this problem is a weight thrown off the clutch. So I'm preparing to replace the the clutch, But the reverse problem cannot be answer with clutch. When I put it in reverse it acts as if it's in 5th.

You should probably give folks a little more than 24 hours....many people don't cruise the boards while they are working.

I agree that the clutch could have thrown a weight. It also sounds like your clutch hydraulics are starting to act up. Try bleeding the clutch fluid and purging the air with a Mityvac...if that cures the problem, great, if not...you may need to replace the clutch and master. Getting the air out is kind of a pain...but if you are getting a whole lot of bubbles...then you probably have a leak somewhere.

I'm just stressed to get this done ASAP because this car is the only one I have. And my wife has to take me back and forth with the baby it's getting on her nerves and I start day shift on Saturday, so getting up early is really going to get her upset.

I've just ordered parts today to replace the clutch and if that doesn't work I'll have to take to the dealership for warranty work.

Is this everything I need to buy for the clutch replacement?
GM Part #
15046288 CYLINDER 1 $91.38
15705563 BEARING 1 $51.44
14061685 BEARING 1 $8.17
12570806 FLYWHEEL pckge 1 $320.42
12570277 CYLINDER 1 $106.05

If its under warranty why are you ordering stuff? Let the dealer fix it.

The clutch is not covered by the warranty due to it being a wear item like brake pads. I'll have to take in for warranty work if the clutch is not the problem. Because I don't know what is wrong with reverse.

Well I had 5 clutches and 2 trannys replaced with my factory warranty. I would not buy a thing and take it to the dealer and get them to fix it if it is under warranty. As soon as you put an aftermarket clutch in it the warranty is void.

You must have a good service department because I don't think the clutch is covered even in the 3yr/36,000 mile warranty. I think they cover it up to 12,000 miles. But I'm on my extended warranty and it's not covered and I'm using all GM parts. By the way even if you use aftermarket parts they cannot legally void a warranty. They can deny a claim if the part is determined to cause the problem.

If there is a defect in the clutch it would be covered. As far as an extended warranty it varies from company to company. You are correct about a good service dept. If they are sorry they wouldnt lift a finger for you.

I took the car down the road today. Everything is alright unless you accelerate too quickly then the clutch slipping and car shaking occurs. I got it to turn 4000 RPM by accelerating slowly. I will not be able to drive it on a busy highway because I wouldn't be able to get out of the way of my Grandma.

By the way reverse is working. I must have been so stressed after work that I reverted back to my 5spd days
