4.8L 5spd skipshift?
Has anyone ever heard of a skip shift or lockout in a 2004 single cab silverado 4.8L w/ a 5spd. The truck will not let me shift from 2nd to 3rd @high rpm. That is how i lost to a mustang gt
can anyone help me?

That wouldnt be skip shift, explain a little better, is it stuck in gear, or does it just not go into 3rd. If it wont let you shift into 3 at higher rpms it is more than likely a synchro going out

It shifts fine at lower rpm that's what makes me think that it is not a synchro. It locks me out of third when i am driving it hard. Imean taking the rpm near redline, but I have never heard of a 5spd in a truck doing this. Trust me it pisses me off. The dealership down here says there is nothinf wrong because they could not duplicate it. If you aske me they are full of s**t.

The skip shift if for emisions, and as far as I know it doesn't apply on a truck. Go test drive another truck and see if it does the same thing. Sorry, I'm not much help.

I have the same truck . . . .
I also drive a 4.8 5-speed regular cab - my truck never does that, all the way up to 6300 rpm. And yes, that might be why you lost to a GT -
My Transmission is in a few pieces at the shop right now because (while I've never had any shifting problems) recently while my shifter stayed in place, there was a loud clunk occasionally and it felt like something was binding, then popping loose, etc - anyway - I hate the NV3500 - want a NV4500 or (with some extra money for custom install) a T56.
You should get that taken care of - I feel your pain man, and no, it shouldn't be doing that at all.

hydraulic slave cylinder is my guess. was happening on my camaro right before the thing disentigrated on me. that or the valve in the cylinder is allowing fluid to pass by therefore the clutch is not releasing so you can switch gears
