Default T-56 shifter re-allocation

Hi,

I'm doing a conversion which includes a LS1 engine and a T-56 gearbox into an old Opel Manta (german car). But a problem I see now, is that the shifter will come quite far back inside the car. So I was wondering if anyone know about some kit that will allow me to move the shifter forward against the engine?

Thanks,

Which trans do you have ?? Try contacting somone like D+D as they may be able to help.
The Viper T56 shifter position is further forward than an LS1 T56

There is a company out there called Keisler Auto making kits to install T56's and other overdrive manual transmissions in old muscle cars. They make all kinds of kits to move the shifters around, etc. If they don't have something off the shelf, I'd bet they could fab something custom for you. Good Luck, sounds like a cool project!

Thanks guys.

Mail has been sent to Keislerauto. Could see on their homepage that they move the shifter quite a bit forward with their kit. And that is what I need.

Look on the Steeda website in Florida. http://www.steeda.com/

Tri-Ax FORGED handle sets the shifter further back. We use it in the LS1/RX7 conversions. I believe if you reversed the installation it would work.

Here is a cool Buick Grand National (Turbo V6) twin turbo powered Manta in Finland: http://personal.inet.fi/private/tapi/t-ray.html

Good luck with your project.
