Complete Rebuild, NEED HELP So check my sig and you'll see what I drive -
The other day my tranny started making a bad clunking noise and popped out of gear without the shifter even moving - lots of binding and popping -
Took it to a shop (fairly reputable) they gave me a FREE estimate - then proceeded (with my ok) to remove the tranny from the truck and get into it only to find that most of my bearings were shot. Additionally, my spider gear is gone in my P.O.S. factory peg-leg rear end.
Here's the kicker: 1 year warranty on all parts and labor fix it for $1900
I'm thinking - spend that much money on a T-56, buy an Eaton Posi unit and then pay someone to do the install -
What would you guys do if in a similar situation - seriously?? I am a student in college and need my truck back, however I do know to take advantage of a situation as I see it . . . . what SHOULD a shop charge to do what they are claiming? What SHOULD a shop charge to do what I have in mind??
