Default Zero balancing a clutch.

Can someone explain to me what this entails?

What parts of the clutch are needed, the PP, disc and flywheel? Or just the PP and flywheel?

Thanks.

Do you know exactly how it's performed, where the weights are added, etc?

The machine shop will spin the assembly on a "hines" type balancer, then usually they will drill the flywheel...then add or take away material from the PP. When adding material they will weld a small piece of metal to the PP cover.....mostly though they will just grind off some weight from the PP........... Wash

I just got my flywheel and pressure plate back from the machine shop. He said that you do not balance the flywheel. Something about it being balanced to the motor. You just balance the pressure plate to the flywheel.

^ thats true on a stock LT1 balance but with an internal balance you need to get the flywheel "zero" balanced

what do you mean??? I have a 00 LS1 and he knows it. I'm all confused again. This is an OEM flywheel and he said it is not perfectly balanced for a reason. So your saying that on my LS1 the flywheel should be perfectly balanced? Why is he saying otherwise? That's this guys job at the machine shop. He balances everything.

I am also wondering about this, I have a Fidanza flywheel waiting to be mated up with a SPEC Stage 3F...should I worry about balancing or not??

Sorry, I dont know about the LS1s. I had this problem with my LT1 and had to pull the tranny back out to balance the flywheel. Yeah, listen to the guy that does it for a living. Sorry for the confusion
