Nothing like a good argument to keep the thread active.
That brings me to another question. My input shaft bearing looks like it rotated a bit in the case. Is that supposed to happen? Also, did that trash the case?

Do you mean the bearing race that fits in the front plate of the tranny? If so this race is not pressed into the case. It should be tight but not so tight that you can't get it out. The shims for the input and mainshaft fit behind this race.

Has anyone done a bearing change out on the T56? The shimming procedure looks a little tricky. Where do you get the tool to do the end play measurement?
