Angry Emergency!! Need Help Asap!

just finished putting the clutch back in the car. started it up. clutch enguages and makes the wheels spin on the jack, but its making a horrible vibrating noise in the bellhousing! we followed the install instructions correctly. we don't have any leftover bolts or parts. this is my 2nd clutch install and i didnt have any problems with the first one. what could this be. we torqued all the bolts down to the correct specs. HELP!

Did you replace the throw out bearing(slave cyclinder)? That might be your problem. Most clutch companies recommend replacing it with a 2002 style slave cyclinder.hope that helps

yup replaced it with a new one..we took the tranny back out and it seemed fine. my buddy got 2 new ones so we put the other new one in. the clutch looked fine too so we dont think that was it. what are the chances of getting a bad throwout bearing?

Okay so the new throw-out bearing did not make a difference.... still makes this awful chattering sound... like the clutch is chatering against the flywheel or something...

I am clueless.... Is it possible that we got our hands on a bad clutch???? This is a spec stage 3, and a brand new lightened flywheel.

What could we have doen worng?? PLEASE HELP... any suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your repsones!

Did you have the flywheel and clutch balanced together? If not, did you replace the flywheel? Did you get all items from the same manufacturer and together? This will all make a differece. Sounds to me like the clutch is not in balance with the flywheel. My RAM Powergrip clutch was out of balance out of the box. Had all items balanced together and haven't had a single problem. Grips great with no noise.

well we took the clutch off. checked all the torque specs. put the pressure plate back on....same damn noise. we noticed that the flywheel looked bare(not mating) on about 1/6 of the surface. I have no F'n idea but ive taken this thing out 3 times today and we have to have it off this jack and out of the shop by the end of the night

you need to take the flywheel, clutch, pressure plate to a machine shop and have them measure the flywheel and balance all of it as a set. If it is out of balance, then the clutch will need a couple of countersinks drilled in it. It is worth the money to get this done and extend the life of the clutch. Torque specs don't balance it.

Make sure the fly wheel is flat a machine shop can resurface it. if it is off, this will happen too.

Make sure you align the clutch properly on the flywheel. Use the alignment tool for this.

I used my stock bolts. The only problem I have is getting used to the new grab point with the pedal.. I hope all problems are fixed.

you guys wont believe this. after replacing the TO bearing again(we had 2 new ones) we pulled the tranny for the 3rd time. started it with the tranny out, still noise. took the bellhousing off, started the car, NO NOISE!! Took a look at the bellhousing and apparently something was rubbing the bellhousing. took a wire wheel and smoothed it out. no problems. we have no idea what the deal was. thought maybe it was a loose bolt but when we put the bellhousing back on the 2nd time(we took the clutch pressure plate off and when we put it back on we put the bellhousing on as well before starting it again), it still made a noise and I checked the bolts to make sure they were tight, so i doubt that was the problem. we torqued everything to spec, checked and rechecked to avoid any problems, so im sure bolts werent the culprit. for you guys that are wondering it is ok to start the car with the tranny disconnected, and no we didnt do this on blind faith. we called a guy who owns a tranny shop. anyways we got it fixed and I'm happy
