Default Turbos and Trans durability

How well does a stock T56 hold up with a turbocharger?

I'm looking very seriously at putting an STS on my 402 LS2 build. Looking for around 625-650 rwhp with boost.

The weak link in the T56 is the output shaft only being 27 splines . I have a customer running 10.00's but should be running mid 9's in the car if on full drags . He has only had the usual problems like syncros and such . He's making well over 600 rwhp in his car . I think you will be fine with a turbo since they don't spike the torque real quick like N2O .

It is possible to upgrade the output spline to a 31T with some rework.

Over 700hp and 798ft lbs. with stock T-56 and twin disc. Absolutely no probs unless you decide to bolt on a set of slicks and leave at 5-6,000rpms on a sticky track. Broke my output shaft right out of the hole at HRP. Freewayin' it and playin' on the street with drag radials or ET streets you should be just fine.

my completly stock tranny has taken the abuse of 536rwt on a mustang dyno, has about 70k miles on it now.
i have to pull it and fix a leaking seal, wonder if its going to hold up to my next combo.

with the sts on it i doubt it will shock the tranny to much, if you want it to last dont jerk the tranny around to much and she will hold up for a while.
