Grinding going into third
Grinding going into third Most of the time my transmission shifts perfectly smooth in every gear but, sometimes it grinds going into third. About half way through the throw it just hits a wall and makes a bad grinding sound. It only happens at low rpm and I have a pro 5.0. I was thinking it was the syncro but, I would like other opinions.

not sure on the cost. i know I had a local tranny shop do it and put the updated syncro's, blocker rings, and forks. o and also replaced third gear itself b/c I let it grind so much it wouldnt go into gear. that was a 300$ mistake. so if anything just try to stay out of it b/c the more you grind it the worse it will get. it totaled me about 1200 bux to get it rebuilt with all the latest and greatest parts and that includes the 300 bux for third gear. hope this helps

I rebuilt my tranny for the same condition you have. I have to say though, that I did not find anything wrong inside. I am now convinced tha the main source of the occasional grinding into 3rd just needs the drill mod.
I would try the drill mod first. Your tranny may be fine!!!
