Default a4 to m6 swap computer question

I am about to swap in a t56 and I have a question about the computer tuning. Will my car be driveable after the 6 speed is swapped in but still has the a4 tuning. I am assuming I will get a lot of codes thrown and the speedo will be off, but other than that, can I drive it? I have someone that can flash the computer to an m6 file but I need to know if I can drive it around first or not.

Thanks

yes you can drive the car, you will indeed have a lot of codes and the speedo will be off, I am doing the same thing next weekend and this is what my research has shown from this subject.
let me now if I need to look out for something while I need to connect some wires and what not. where did you get all the info for the swaP?
thanks
David

I have gotten most of the info from searching on this site and from some people who have done it before. All I am waiting for is my pedals and master to get here and I am doing the swap. Hopefully it will be this weekend. From what I have read, the car will drive fine but will just throw a bunch of codes and the speedo reads wrong. That is no big deal temporarily, I just want to make sure I can actually drive it. As far as I know, the only things that will have to be wired are the clutch switch, vss, reverse lights, and hatch.

It's driveable, you will throw tons of codes, some of which may not let the car even run. Just Flash the PCM for an M6 and would be good to go.

All that has been said above is right. Keep in mind, after you flash to an M6 PCM ... you will be throwing a code for the skip-shift. I haven't dealt with this issue yet, on mine, but I will now have to as our state has instituted emissions inspections for OBD-II cars that will fail you for any fault codes.

You will also be dealing with the electric hatch release not working and/or the cruise control not working due to the elimination of the shifter's selector switch ... one item wants the "shifter" to appear to be in park, the other wants it to appear to be in drive.

And .... you'll need to wire up either constant power or a clutch switch to the reverse lock-out solenoid ..... or just strong arm the shifter over to the side to get reverse.... as I've been doing.

I'm replacing the pile-of-crap Spec clutch that I originally installed, this week, and I'll be looking at taking care of these other electrical issues that didn't show up (with the original swap) until I started driving the car and didn't feel like going back into things.

When I did my swap it actually made it run better because of the cam. Driving around in 2.73s on a 6 speed sucks though.

So could I just use HP Tuners, download someone's M6 bin file and start modifying bin file and retuning my car or what?

UPDATE:

See my posts in the A4 to M6 sticky thread for answers to the above points .... and pics of the wiring changes. The only thing still not working is the cruise control. This will take more research.
