The best way I've found is to open the fill hole on the side of the tranny, then add fluid from inside the car via the shifter opening. When fluid starts coming out of the fill hole, you're all set.
should i take the shifter off, or should i just add it to where the stick goes?

Ya just take the shifter off that seems to be the eaisest. Should take 4 quarts or so and your done.Originally Posted by jimmy 2 Times

Working on my rides trying to get them going again. You? Ever get any track times in the ss. You ever plan on coming back up here?

as for the the hand pump, i wanted to know if there was an easier way

Here is the easy way to add fluid. Get a trans funnel from any auto parts store. Get some clear tubing from any hardware store. Attach the clear tubing to the trans funnel. Route the tubing from the engine bay alog side the headers down to the fill plug on the driver's side of the trans and cut to length. Put the end of the tubing in the fill plug hole. Now you can fill from the top. It will take just short of 4 quarts. I put a drain pan under the fill plug.
This is a lot easier than pumping and filling from the shifter.
