Default bang... and now wont shift.. what the hell?

so im driving on the freeway... in 6th gear, doing about 70mph... when i hear a bang, not too loud, and the car looses speed and kind of lurched.. i take my foot off the gas.. slow to about 50mph.. everything seems ok.. i continue driving another 5 miles but then just to be safe i pulled over to check out if i ran something over..

as im getting off the ramp i start to down shift.. hard getting into 5th.. try 4th.. it grinds then goes in.. i rolled into a gas station.. and now cant get any gears at all.. even with the car off.. i cant put it into any gears..

DIAGNOSIS.. i need help..

im thinking it is the shift linkage.. some one else said it was my pressure plate.. but i have full pressure in the clutch.. the trans only has 1800 miles on it from being brand new from McLeod..

ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS BEFORE I PULL THE TRANS AND SEND IT BACK??

could it be something else? need help ASAP.

same thing happend to me a year go when i was coming back from toronto, heard a little bang but everything seemed fine and kept driving. When i came to the border i slowed down for customs and couldnt shift into any gears. Had it towed to the nearest GM dealer and they said if i remember right that it was my pressure plate to. Somthing to do with my clutch, they replaced the clutch and everything was good again. Wish i was near home since i could have replaced it my self instead of shelling out cash to have the dealer do it but all well. Hope everything works out for you.

Justin

P.S. - my clutch pedal felt fine too.

oh crap, really?? i was about to send the trans back to Anahiem Gear in CA who warranty the Tremec's.

so you couldnt get any gear as well? so did you replace the pressure plate or the clutch? or both?

apparently.. from the tranny shop..he says..

"you had a nice leak coming from the rear seal where the drive shaft goes in. when we pulled the plug.. only about 2 cups of fluid came out"

yeah but when i checked it last.. i drained over a quart.. and it had been leaking all over the trailer and in my garage...

lovely.. a fried trans
