Is this normal? Pics inside.
Anyway, I noticed the area below the shifter was really wet, as was the place where the driveshaft enters the transmission. Here are some pictures of the wet areas. Is this normal? The wet stuff was pitch black, so I could not tell what kind of fluid it was. Car runs and shifts great, no problems. No leakage from drain or fill holes, no pan leakage or even seapage, both engine and transmission are bone dry and clean except this area.

This one is right where the shifter goes into the car, you can see black fluid streaked :

Thanks for any thoughts.

Hey Hugger,
In fact the dealership mechanic specifically mentioned the yoke seal, and he said when that is bad it always drips, but that it seeps as part of its normal function. So if the ground is dry after parking overnight, your yoke seal is fine according to him. He's been a GM mechanic for 18 years.

The driveshaft is clean and dry the rest of the way back to the gears. The only wet spot is that in the pictures.
How hard is this bearing to replace? Do you get it from below or from above from the shifter?
