Are you talking about for the 5-6 gear on the mainshaft ? I use a large 2 jaw puller with a 18" reach on it . Its about $600.00 from OTC .

All you really need to do is buy a 3 jaw puller. I used a friends craftsman, costs about $40, but bought a cheap 3 piece set at harbor freight for $9.

The trick is making the links for the puller. You can make them from metal strips that you can buy at any hardware store. Just look for threaded rod or the like. They are usually all in the same section.

I made each link, needed 6, 19" in length and drilled out 3/8" holes 1/2 from each end. I then drilled 3/8" holes every 3". I think I ended up drilling 4 additional holes in total (per link).

whoala, instant 18"+ gear puller.

I can try and get pics for you tommorow.....

I also about a hydraulic press and a bearing separator (sp?) from harbor freight as well.

I have access to a gear puller set and everything. Now that I know the right size to use life will be easer...But I am still stumped on the difference between synchro rebuild kits and synchro assemblies. Anyone know? Thanks

Synchro rebuild kit is includes blocker rings, synchro keys, stuff like that. The syncro assembly is the slider ring and hub. The synchro assembkey does not come with the blocker rings. If the slider or hub is damaged you will need a new synchro assembly. Take a look at either www.ddperformance.com or www.thegearbox.org. D&D has pics of these parts.
