Swap an M12 Z06 T56 tranny into a 99 C5 w/ an M6 t56 tranny?
I have searched the archive and have not seen this question directly addressed. I have seen a couple of post back in 2001 about the Z06 M12 transmission not being able to be swapped for an F-body M6 T56 transmission but what about a regular C5? Can I get a salvaged Z06’s M12 T56 transmission and swap it (with out major complications) for my ’99 C5 Corvette’s M6 T56 transmission? I really appreciate any assistance here.

Thanks there Mr. Guru, I appreciate your help. I just got off the phone with Lingenfelter Performance, and they stated pretty much the same – that the C5’s M6 T56 has the same dimensions and such (with exception of gear ratios & synchros) as does the Z06’s M12 T56, and that they should be an easy swap. Lingenfelter also mentioned that they do have a T56 package to convert an M6 to a M12. It would run around $2200 w/ shipping, but you have to remove and install the tranny. I would guess that price is for a C5 or F-body T56 M6 to be upgraded. Likely this would be the only option for an F-body guy/gal that would want Z06 gears, but for a Vette owner, it would probably be cheaper to swap the tranny. – I guess the F-body folks do have the option to go with a GTO tranny that has the Z06 gears. I do not know if the tranny out of a GTO will fit in an F-body, but I would expect it probably would. Thanks again, -blake
