Damn Skip Shift
I am getting fed up with this stupid skip shift nonsense on my 2002 Z28 with the T56. Is there any way to eliminate this at a reasonable price?

LOL, hellya! forget that damn slp thing for $30!!! Here's whatcha need to do...Go to Radioshack and buy a 2.2ohm? .5watt resistor and all you do is unplug the connector and stick the resistor up in the electrical connection and tape it up.!! BTW that resistor at radioshack will cost you a total of $1.50!! Good luck

My T56 is actually in an old vette so I don't have to worry about the engine light going off. But I never connected the skip shift eliminator to anything, and it doesn't work. If you want to be really cheap you can just disconnect the wires from the back of the actuator in the trans. If I remember right, it's not the actuator facing the engine, but the one right next to it on the drivers side. But an engine light will probably go off.

i'll try to fill ya in best i can.
the "skip shift" is a little silinoid in the transmission... its in the middle drivers side of the trans screwed in. #1 in the pic attached below.
this little 'noid pops out when the PCM gives it power... when its popped out, you cant shift into 2nd..... as you already know.
now if you unplug it, skip shift never comes on.... but the PCM sees that nothing is connected to it... and pops a SES light.
so what the solution is, is to take a resistor... put it in the wiring half of the plug.
now when the PCM hits the skip shift, it THINKS the 'noid is connected, but really, its only seeing the resistor...
that is all that a skip shift eliminator is... the only diff between this and a commercial one is that the one you buy has a plug on it....
its less then $2 at radio shack for a resistor... just plug it in, wrap it in tape, and zip tie out of the way

No drawbacks at all. The problem will be to find a plug for the hole. There are plastic ones made( not suitable) but I know of none on the market that will provide a reliable seal. ( Yes I have removed these and I have made plugs)

Hey guys sorry I was wrong about the specs on the resistor its actually a 2.2K Ohm 1/2 watt resistor.
I'm going to edit my previous post so nobody gets confused. 2.2 is the right one! Just follow the directions from installuniversity.com ... This mod will take you all of 5mins~!! Well worth it.
