Default Girdle's.. Good with M6?

I did a search on "Girdle" and only came up with a few posts.

This is what I am thinking..

ET's on the street.. BFG's at the track..

Would I be safe going with the 10 bolt and a girdle? Someday I will break down and buy the 12 bolt, but for the next year or so I don't want to put out the $2k..

What are the weakest points on our 10 bolt? What can done besides the girdle to help improve the strength of our rearend?

Usually the gears will break before the actual posi does...

I wouldn't reccomend putting E.T. Streets on the stock 10 bolt....the Girdle will help save the gears though if something else gives way first...

I am actually thinking about doing the girdle soon...I don't have the money to get the rearend now.. <img src="graemlins/gr_cry.gif" border="0" alt="[whiner]" />

A girdle puts pressure on the main caps inside the differential and prevents flexing of the housing, which can cause a ring or pinion to break. The girdle is cheap insurance to get that little bit of extra life out of your 10 bolt.

I have a buddy running 600+ rwhp on a stock 10 bolt, and he swears his girdle is the reason lol

I think the girdle is pretty useless but it looks nice.

We usually shear teeth off the ring, or break the spider gears.

If your doing gears anyway and can pick up a used girdle and stud kit at a decent price ... what the heck, can't hurt.

John, what are your thoughts on the Ratech "Crush Collar"?? Any real help or just a $18 feel good part?

Mike
