Default Overfilled Tranny?...how did this happen?

2000 Camaro, 6speed. Went to check the transmission fluid level and when I opened up the FILL plug about an entire quart of fluid came flowing out. The car was completely level. Has this happened to anyone else? How could it be overfilled that much? I just let it flow out until it was level with the fill plug then sealed it.

When doing a clutch swap I fill mine from the top, when the shifter is off. Maybe someone did the same thing with your car and and dumped in WAY too much--otherwise I wouldnt see how it could have been overflowed. Its tough to get all 4 qts in when filling through the hole. Or maybe they filled it with the car jacked up way high on one side lol

If its a GTO, they have a higher level but not a qt higher. Actually its not thet their level is higher, its because the trans is tilted in the car and it changes where the fill hole sits.
