Ok, did GM change something... slave, pics!!
I got a new slave today for my SS, I told my parts guy a '01 or '02 slave cylinder with throw out bearing, he said they changed the part number just last month, and this is the latest one, look.....
Will this work the same as the other ones?? What are they doing with the rubber boot thing now? I just don't want to pull the tranny and reinstall it to find out it doesn't work.
Thanks for any help!!

Woah! You bastard (jokingly), that looks like they've done some REAL changes to the sucker. The beveled top (t.o. bearing) is the same as my "old" 01+ slave cylinder, but the boot and bleeder fitting on the end is new....I'm assuming the boot keeps clutch dust out of the parts where lubrication is important and that bleeder fitting probably helps the techs (and us) bleed it easier.
Is the base of the slave plastic or is that metal (aluminum) painted black?
Sorta makes me wish I had waited 2 months to change all my hydros.
Somebody please post here and let us know if us "old" 01+ slave cylinder owners are missing out on something important here.

Haha, I'm not sure I want to be a guinea pig for this one The base is plastic I believe, I tap on it and it's not a metal tink you get I do like the little nipple on the bleeder, hopfully it sticks out more and you can get a rubber hose over it to catch the fluid when we bleed it.
Looks like you better get a new one haha j/k

it looks like the nipple will stick out of the trans and looks like you can get a hose and wrench on there which is cool
the base does look like plastic but i bet its the same stuff that the intakes are made out of thats what it looks like
they would not use just regular plastic on a part with that much pressure on it
the boot is a very good thing
next time pull my trans im doing the slave/to so let us know how it works out
i think it sould work awsome

What happened is the supplier for the original was bought-out . The "new" part is a marriage of the former(AP) and the new (FTE) designs. It is actually a better part. Plastic slaves have been in production for years. You'll be ok.

I just picked up one today from MTI...Mine looks exactly the same except for mine doesnt have the cover that covers the spring...There is nothing plastic on it, its all metal...

New Part #12570343 = Which is shown in the pictures above, that replaced the 15046288 part #, still for the trucks.
Old Part # 15046288 = which is for a Full Size Silverado with a Deisel, or 8.1 manual transmission.
Part #12565145 = Part for '00 and up F-body.
So now I'm COMPLETELY confused The part shown that I got was the updated 6288 part, not even really for our cars, but I guess works since it's tougher.
ALL these numbers are straight from the GM parts computer, I know the parts guy that I just went over all this with.

I don't know dude, I was told when i called for the 6288 part, that the 6145 is the new part, and it's for S-10's, Full size deisels, 8.1 manuals.
Are you a parts guy at a dealership?
And he said the update was just recently.
What do your computers show?

My parts dude is calling GM right now, he uses Reynolds too.
He says when he punches in the 6288 part it pulls up being superceded to the 0343 part number.
The 6145 is TOTALLY different, that is the slave for the '00,'01 and '02 LS1, but he says the 6288/0343 is for the trucks.
