Angry &*%#ing Ram clutches

I thought that I just got a bad clutch when my Ram power grip decided to chew up my flywheel and PP after about 2000 miles (no drag passes). So I upgraded to the VDS and wouldn't you know it, it just went **** up with little over 2000 miles (no drag passes). This one only chewed up the PP. The pucks on the PP side of the disc are completely gone and the pressure plate has a .050" groove cut into it. The flywheel is great along with the flywheel side of the disc.

I am so disgusted with this crap. The only good thing about this situation is Thunder Racing, once again, is taking great care of me. Thanks for everything Shane. Looks like I'm switching to a Spec.

How many others have had these kinds of problems with Ram? I KNOW I'm not the only one.

I have yet to have a single problem with any RAM clutch on the LS1, including my friends and brother's RAMs.

I love my RAM HD unit.

It's holding over 500 RWHP, no chatter, smooth engagement.

I loved the way the HD unit felt, and the VDS. But 2000 miles for both of them?

Who installed each unit?

What does your hydraulic system consist of?

What gears do you have?

Where does the clutch engage?

I installed the HD and Thunder installed the VDS. This ain't my first rodeo when it comes to installing clutches that's for sure. My Cartek lasted over 50k with some serious abuse and I installed it.
All updated hydraulics with adjustable stock master. McCleod master was ditched a long time ago (read: JUNK).
Clutch engages about an inch and a half to two inches off the floor as they all have. Clutch IS fully disengaging.
I do have the stock 3.42's. Yes, that isn't helping but it ain't doing that much damage. If it was, then why would only one side of the VDS be worn and not both? The flywheel and the flywheel side of the disc are still perfect.

I as well as a few sponsors here are leaning towards some bad clutch discs from Ram. What are your thoughts Cannibal? I'm at a loss here and welcome all responses.

Yea that'll work..If you know someone who's tried that once or twice before and had success, obviously it won't be a wasted effort...fwiw

I have a VDS and I race it at the track no problems so far. It was installed in 2003. As far as mods go let's just say the only thing that is stock is the shortblock.
