Clutch problem
Clutch problem The clucth seems to be stuck. The clutch won't fully engage to shift gears, but it does not release all the way either. I had to start the car in 1st to get it home and run the engine up to 3500-4000 RPM's just to get the car to move. The clutch seems to be partially engaged, where the tranny is slipping but it still moves the car. But it has to stay in the same gear, I can't shift it with the car on. When it is at a stop it shuts off unless I rev it up because the clutch is not engaging.
I checked the fluid level in the resivoir and it was good. The fluid is black though instead of clear. I checked the pedal linkage and that seems to be fine. The clutch line seems to be alright also. I notice on the bellhousing thought the tranny said Borg Warner. I thought LS1's had the Tremec? The guy I bought the car from had the dealer replace the tranny out of a wrecked Z-06 which I verified thorugh the dealer. I am kind of confused. I only have a manual for the 93-97 Firedbirds. How different is the LS1 tranny from the LT1s? I am thinking the clutch release fork is messed up, but other than that I am kinda clueless. I plan on taking it down this weekend. Any suggestions to what the problem is?
