effects of slippage

if you were to have slippage at mid- high RPM's what would the effects be? could that cause a drop in MPG's?

When You say MPG, miles per gallon? If so you might see a little. Last clutch I had slipping on me It started when crusing in 5th (nissan 300z) and I went to accelerate, the rpms would climb up alittle with out verry much acceleration. Then it just got worse from there untill it was slipping in ever gear. If your clutch is starting to slip you should start to notice it in the tach more so than MPG. Try putting it in 6th and flooring it see if rpm's start climbing faster than car is accelerating. Or you can try pulling the E brake and letting out the clutch if the car has a hard time stalling or doesn't stall you have some problems. Hope this helps good luck.

thanks. ive already noticed all that. Im asking because im getting about 11-12mpg's and cant quite figure out why. Changed o2's, retuned the idle and pt throttle.....checked almost everything mechanical that I could. If thats taking the 6-7mpg then id be happy to spend the $ for a new clutch, but not another spec

If the clutch is slipping, you may notice a slight drop in MPG. Only because you are giving it gas and the car isn't going anywhere. But if you drive easy, and dont accelerate hard enough to slip the clutch that it wont affect MPG.
