shifter/ trans question I am new to the world of LS1s. I have a question, i sat in a 2002 Trans Am with 6spd trans. My friend and I drove it and shifting it is very notchy and gears are close together. is it supposed to be this notchy. I have a civic and this trans was notchier than mine. Correct me if im wrong but i though sports cars would have very smooth shifting transmissions

Welcome to the T56 trans. It is known for being notchy . I just put my short stick on a few minutes ago and now its even notchier(sp?). You just gotta get used to it and learn the different "moods" of the transmission to be smooth.
