Shifter install..
Hey guys I was just curious about something. When you pull off your shifter and unbolt it from the tranny. You look into the tranny (the box). The shifter just goes into the lil box metal to metal?? I've taken it apart so many times and never thought about it. You'd think they'd be like a rubber insulator or something to keep it from rattling metal to metal. My 5.0 just rattles my ears off.

Don't mis lead him/ understand what he is asking. The question had nothing to do with a handle.Y2 there is a plastic socket that is epoxied into the trans where the shifter fits. It is NOT metal to metal. If yours (socket ) is missing or loose replace it AND glue it in.The shifter base to trans "box" joint uses only an RTV sealant- there is no gasket.
