While I have no first hand experience I know they are the best considering they have not had a single trans break on them yet after something close to 800 builds which they brag about on their site and from what I have read and heard from people who have had them do work in the Detroit area.

D&D does nothing but transmissions so they are highly experienced and high volume so you won't get a better deal on a rebuilt T56. I will add that I think $300 is if you bring them the trans out of the car and I don't recomend trying this at home if you have no experience. As far as parts, they have a fairly complete list of parts on their site www.ddperformance.com

I am not a trusting person but I know I would trust them if I had the money to have mine rebuilt. I only know one other person who could do the work and do it well but he doesn't do them all the time and hates working on them lol. He is at a dealer so if you think D&D is expensive guess again. Hope I was able to help steer you towards a good rebuild.

They sound like good guys, ive talked to them on the phone and have checked out there site.. i have 2 options $2000 for a new T-56 or $300 + parts for a rebuild of mine. im just curious if the rebuild is gonna cost around the same price as a new one. Im not sure if i have a real problem with mine im getting alot of gear noise in the trans at highway speeds. and for instance 1st gear i'll run it up to 4k push in the clutch and let the car decel all you can hear is the gears in the trans grinding or meshing together. i have a aftermarket shifter so i know there is some noise but i know it shouldn't be this bad, i can shift into every gear fine, no grinding no nothing shifts are smooth.. About once every 2 months the trans will pop out of first. but this winter i plan on taking them my trans i justed wanted to see what feedback others had for them.

Well, I think if you throw every upgrade at it from them it will still cost less to rebuild unless there is a core charge on there transmissions. Best to figure out what you want out of it first. As far as poping out of 1rst, that is a new one for me. I have heard of popping out of 4th and 3rd though. The gear noise you hear I doubt it is in the trans since you would hear it while acceleration more then decelerating and shouldn't hear it at constant speed. My guess is that you might be hearing the rear end making noise do to lash in the gears or worn bearings. Do you have an aluminum drive shaft? If so they like to resonate rear end noise. If you are sure it is in the trans it could be the "normal" gear noise they sometimes make or caused by worn gears in the trans.

ohh no it's the trans for sure... you really cant here it at cruising speeds do to my exhaust but the same noise i get with i let the clutch in and let the car coast is the same noise i get at 70-80mph im gonna bet the trans gears are worn thanks to the previous owner. im gonna give it a shot this winter and if it does cost more to rebuild then replace I hope they will just let me replace it rather then rebuild it after it's torn apart. Thanks for the info I appreciate it.

Anything I can do to help a fellow addict, I mean enthusiast. I have the same prob with my trans, as in the previous owner/s prob. Good luck with it!

If you live anywhere near Michigan and take a T56 ANYWHERE other than D&D, bad move on your part. I've taken several to them, and I get them back better than new. Excellent service, and an excellent product. I wouldn't recommend anyone else.

I shipped mine from Ca I did not want to **** around with a rebuild anywhere else. it was 880 dollars plus the shipping back to have it rebuilt with carbon fiber synchros and a steel shift fork. Turnaround was about a week only.

I plan on doing a conversion and i see they have the F-body T-56 fot $1999 in GMHTP Mag. But i need to know, is that the tranny itself like new and built or atleast a solid core of there own that they built up? Or is there some sort of core Exchange? or what? I really am just hoping that 1999 is all i'll have to pay at all + shipping.

Can someone let me know please

thanks

adam
