not going into gears
not going into gears i have a recently purchased 98 camaro Z28 and i have a problem with it going into 2nd,3rd, 5th and it is hard to get it into reverse. i have it all apart on my workbench anything that i should look for?????

If it goes into gearswhenthe engine is off, it's more than likely you hydraulics. Master/slave is shot. How does the clutch feel?

The teeth are the same as on the blocker rings. Also check the synchronizer assemblies & the collars for wear where they engage the clutch teeth.
Your gonna need blocker rings & a steel 3/4 fork minimum.
Download the service manual for free from TCC, search in here you'll find it.
Then as everyone says upgrade your hydraulics to protect the newly rebuilt trans.

Had the same Problem: had theacr for 1200 miles and 2nd, 3rd, 4th adn 5th were gone- reverse (dont ask me how) was "starting to go". The teeth on the gears looked thrashed to all hell- so i got a enw one. have fun spending $2,000+!
