Bleeding Problems
Bleeding Problems Just put in a new clutch, slave, and Mcleod master (drill mod also). We installed the new master tonight and attempted to bleed the system. I pumped the pedal twice (it was NOT mushy), held it to the floor, a friend opened the bleeder then closed the bleeder. I took my foot off the pedal and it was stuck to the floor. Is this how it is supposed to go? I lifted it off the floor, pumped it once and it was really soft...no pressure at all. So I checked the fluid level and it had not gone down at all. I pumped the pedal one more time and then it got hard again. So I checked the fluid again and this time it had gone down. We bleed it a total of 6 times and each time was exactly like the scenario above, EXCEPT the pedal travel became smaller and smaller each time. After the last cycle the pedal would be soft until 2" off the floor then it got hard. Why is this? Are we doing this right?

I hope this wasn't confusing. It is hard to describe what is goin on.

PS: with as much problems that I've had with the clutch system, maybe I should've got an A4 instead? The M6 is a piece of junk.

6 times dosent seem like a lot just keep bleeding it it takes a while. It seemed as if it were getting better I heard it could take up to 30 times . I here you with the M6 sucks mine won't shift smooth at high RPM i am looking to rebuld I can't come to terms with an auto its not my style good luck . Also if keep the cap of while you bleed it .
