Clutch issues - Why is it?
Several months back I installed a Z06 clutch, new GM master and GM slave in my 98 SS. A couple of weeks ago, I began experiencing difficulty shifting. It began to be more difficult trying to shift between gears. Now, I cannot get the car into gear when it is running. When I start the car in gear, the gear starts like 1/2 inch from the floor.
I noticed that the fluid level was a little low. I guessed there was air in the line. My buddy and I bled the hydraulics thoroughly. New fluid was going through. No change.
When I installed the clutch I also installed a new fywheel. I did not see any shims in the install kit. Was I supposed to shim it? When I push the clutch pedal in, the hydraulic line moves. I wouldn't think I have a bad master? Bad slave?
Hey, I am an older guy and don't really put a lot of wear on the clutch. What in the world is going on?
Thanks

Sounds like it is definitely hydraulics. These systems are a real bitch to bleed, thats why GM sells them already bled ready to install. I don't think you have to shim a new fly wheel as long as it is a good quality one made to factory specs.
