1 to 2, 2 to 3 shifts
So I have the drill mod. I had a Spec Stage 3 Clutch that lasted 7,000 miles. And Now I have a dual Friction Centerforce Clutch. Both on the Centerforce and Spec Stage 3, when I shift from 1 - 2 and 2 - 3 I have to depress clutch, and wait about a good .5 to 1 second and shift down fast. Its hard to explain, but from 3 - 4 I can depress and instantaneously shift without a problem. If I do this with 1 - 2 2 - 3 it will grind good. Is this typical or is there an issue?? I also own a Jeep Wrangler, and I can shift fast as **** all day long as long as I have depressed the clutch before the shift. --

I heard that those Centerforce clutches weren't anygood in our cars.
All I ever here is , DON"T get a Centerforce.
for that exact problem.
As far as it doing it with the Spec.
if the clutch was bled and working properly, then I would say that your second and Third gear Sychros were bad.

For whatever reason, it sounds like your clutch does not disengage quickly and it grinds if you shift too early. It does not sound like a transmission problem. Maybe the depth of clutch engagement is barely enough, 3rd to 4th gear is a really small ratio change compared to the others, maybe the synchros can take care of it for the 3-4 but not the others.

Hmm. Well the transmission was rebuilt in the middle of having the spec clutch, becuase at that time, the clutch never truely disengaged and it ripped 2nd gear up. So thats when I installed the Master/Slave and rebuilt 2nd gear.
