I also know of some 900-1100HP Vipers that tear through a few in a season. One guy on ViperAlley.com acted surprised, when a fellow member got 400 miles out of it.
With that 408, and 91mm turbo, there is plenty of torque. No one really knows what clutch is best at those power levels. Most people either swap over to autos, after dealing with a few clutch swaps.
Then you've got guys like Mighty Mous, who have had good luck. It's really hit or miss...which sucks! I'm in the same boat as you, going with a built 408, w/ a T88.
We'll see what happens. I'm going with a GForce built T56, then I just need to address the clutch situation

I heard at first it was very on/off, but Allan installed it and said that it was driving very good.
Just out of curiosity, what other clutches are out there that can hold this kind of power?

Ya, i spoke with allan today, so far he said the clutch is doing very well and has very good DD manerisms...
He did a pull on the freeway from 70-140 and said it pulled like a freight train, so if it can hold all that power on the street at those mph's, i think it will be fine.

I don't know about the mcloed twin . When I had only 340hp and 360 tq I stripped the splines on the hub twice. I now have around 400hp and 380 tq and stripped another set of splines, I know that ain't much but at your level you'll be hate'n life if it happens to you. The clutch itself never gave up with launching a full weight car at 6k on nitrous but the spline's did. Each one of the disc's spline is only about 3/8"-7/16" thick and I think that is it's weak point. The spline thickness on my spec clutch is about 1 1/4" which has yet to give up. Also after second time the splines stripped out they rounded the teeth on my input shaft to the point it needed to be replaced. I really wished this didn't keep happening to me because it is a great street clutch. Hope you have better luck.

I have a Textrala oz700 in my ride with around 400hp and now about 450. It's worked perfect so far. I now have a master or slave problem.
But I sprayed it with a 150 shot last year, coming right out of the hole and it held it fine.
I could only imagine what the new twin disc is like.

thats cool, i have the same parts in the car now as i did when replying to this thread a year ago... and was a year old then.. and now i have more power and tq than ever and no problems still.
spec5 is proven to me, and most slip issues i find about it are because the slave was pre-loaded against the pressure plate.

Spec 5 took a dump after 500 miles, slipping bad...... or maybe I just need to heat her up. I dunno..... waiting on BYUNSPEED to confirm what clutch I need to go with.
