clutch???
i've heard bad about spec, centerforce, and ram, and i've heard good about spec, the new centerforce dfx, and ram. so i don't know what to think about what clutch i should use. i'm lookin for one to hold about 600 rwhp. how much can the ls7 clutches hold? what kind of lightweight flywheel can i run with an ls7? thanks

Consider the ratio of clutches sold to problems. If brand "A" sells 100 clutches and there are 5 problems reported, and Brand "B" sells 200 with 10 problems reported, they are running the same percentage. A year ago everyone was hailing the spec and badmouthing centerforce, now everyone is badmouthing spec and praising centerforce and Ram. So is it a surprise that 1 year after everyone was buying specs that you'll hear more problems associated with it? With that said, I evaluated the same things and bought a spec. Mine should be complete by tomorrow or wednesday depending on what I decide to do with the hydraulics.

Maybe its just me, but I would go for something a little stronger than teh LS7 clutch if you are making 600rwhp (at least if you will be going to the track). I have the stock clutch in mine still, im amazed its lasted this long (needless to say, its literally on its last leg), but I have a spec 4 ready to go in .

save up a little more and wait till you can afford a Textralia...im makin about as much as you to the wheels and you have no idea what a joy this thing is to drive around on the street. i have over 4000miles on it and there are no signs of any trouble (chattering, hard pedal, noises, etc.) pedal is near stock feel and grabs about 1 fromt he ground when new than grows to about 1.5-2" when brokn in. i understand its costly but everyone on here that has one will attest that its been well worth it.
good luck in your choice however.

i know the cheapest ram powergrip clutch and aluminum flywheel setup i found was a little under 800, textrailia runs no less than a grand, spec and centerforce are porbably right there with the ram. i think i'm gonna go with the ls7 for the price, and it will hold the power i need for a good while. thanks guys
