So i am leaning more towards the centerforce now.....mainly b/c of the lack of people talking bad about them and the great customer service. Anyone agree with my decision on getting the centerforce? or any other options? as i stated when i started this post i will be looking at 400-410hp after x-mas but it is still a daily driver. BTW i need to get this clutch or some clutch asap....my clutch is on the verge of TAKING A ****!!!

I will be going with the LS7 clutch swap. Cannot afford a textralla I have had good luck with my spec 3 in my turbocharged 84 T/A but it is not my DD and also engauges hard as ****. LS7 has to be able to handle some decent power.

exactly my thoughts, stock z06 450ish rwhp, for a street car. gm is going to put a clutch in the car they wont have to replace under warranty so it has to hold the power and DD abuse at least for 36k miles you would think ahah

I am putting down about 400 through a 12 bolt. All of my friends have done fine with the spec 3 as long as they broke it in. I never reved it past 2500 rpm, no more than 1/4 throttle and truly 500 traffic miles. Did not count highway at all. And like I said, my car has seen slicks and dead hooked off the rev limiter before and with a 4.11 gear at that.

spec is hit or miss, part of the reason i wont "try" them again, cant afford a new clutch every 5k miles

the consensus on a spec 3 seems to be, from what ive seen, that if your putting down anymore than 400rwhp on average its likely the spec 3 wont hold for very long. this is just my opinion from what ive read and peronally experianced.
my spec 3 chattered ungodly for 8k miles with no track passes involved..car wasnt ready for the track...after it was ready and i started running it, it last just another 1500 miles. so if i had started running it earlier in its life span it would have gone alot sooner no doubt. i welded mine to the flywheel doin a burnout on the street on nittos.
i went with a Textrailia and have anything bad to say about it as of yet..great clutch but i know its pricey.
my friend has a centerforce in his SS..hes at 400rwhp cam only car runs 12.00's and its been to the track plenty...hes had nothing but good things to say about it...goodluck to ya.

I love my spec 3 lol. I definatly need to get a twin disk soon as im doin the engine to handle alot more power, BUT atm im makin well over 600 rwhp with a stage 3 and the only time it ever slipped was at the track when i was runin race gas 26* of timing and 14 psi of boost. I shiifted hard between 2nd adn 3rd adn it slipped for a sec. I got off it and back on and it hooked and never did it again.
Im not sure why spec seems to be so hit or miss. But alot of people seem to have issues with it. My bud on here named Zombie had so many problems with spec that he swapped to auto he was so aggravited. Went through multiple spec's before he threw in the towel.
The clutch that is in my car now is the same PP that i put in 2 years ago but i changed the disc after 20k miles since i was doin teh turbo. The new disc has abot 10k on it and not a sign of givin up. Just a not that teh clutch i have is rated for 680 RWTQ adn im REALLY close to that in street form. GL guys

i agree with 02SOMWS6...i have the spec 3I like he does and i have nothing but good things to say. mine was not really broken in either. i intstalled it then went straight to the dyno then and i was easy on it fot like 100 miles then i beat the crap out of it. it chirps the tires in 4th with street tires and lifts the wheels on 5500 launches and i have a lil over 3000 on mine. the thing never chattered even when brand new and i can slip the bitch as much as i want no problem. it drives just like stock and light pedel.

how many of you have the 3I?

i think most problem stem form improper installation and improper bleeding of the hydrolics. use of the wrong shim could also be a problem. with a new flywheel use the thin one. cut flywheel use the thick one

i bet its depending on the kit. the other kits didnt have but one shim. i dont see where people would ahve installation or bleeding troubles, its pretty damn simple. but there are some stupid people. either way mine and 2 friends were done correctly and they broke, and then my friend has one on his camaro with no issues, go figure

I don't think that's the big issue that's came up with SPEC Stage 3s, though. It's not that they can't handle a lot of power, it's that they aren't handling HALF the power they are advertised to handle. If a bunch of people were putting down 500rwhp and using Stage 3s and they were failing, that's one thing, but I have read so many things about people not even at 400rwhp and the things taking a **** in 5k miles or less.

My centerforce has 51,000. My ta has 326hp, and 349ftlb at the wheels. Maybe 4 burnouts total, no racing. Just alot of shifting and the occasional highway romp. I've always liked it. The only downside is shifting at high rpm gets a bit notchy. I'm about to pull it out in about a week. a couple of days ago my car fought tooth & nail to go into reverse, although after a little warm-up it was okay. I'm running the factory master & slave cylinder un-modified. I'm sure my reverse problem is coming from the master or slave cylinder, since they have been noted weak points in fbods. Since I need to replace those parts, I might as well replace the clutch while down there. Once I get the clutch out, I can post some pics of the clutch so everyone here can see what the centerforce looks like after 51,000 miles.

I have a better master than 2000 down models, by un-modified, I meant no drill-mod.

10 weeks/1500 miles out of my SPEC III. I'll never buy another.
