Problems shifting with LT1 T56 I've been having problems with my hurst shortshift 6-speed in my 97SS... Whenever I drive in the 'upper' gears (1-3-5 'upper' and 2-4-6 'lower') for a bit of time (a couple mins or more), I always have trouble getting into the 'lower' gears. When I try to shift into the 'lower' gears, I am getting a lot of resistance. Only after holding the shifter down will it slowly slide into the gear. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about this problem?
I've searched the posts for something similar, and the only thing I can really find that is similar relates to the synchros. Unfortunately, I am not very knowledgable about this kind of stuff, so I have no idea what that means

Your shifter is binding. Be sure the bolts are fully seated ( ALL OF THEM) If this doesn't solve it you may have a worn or loose offset lever socket( the plastic cup the shifter sits in. If its koose it will cause what you have described. You will have to epocy it down. You have not installed any kind of gasket under the shifter have you? Anything except the std. RTV will give probs too.
