Default life expectancy of Spec 3 and Centerforce?

I need a clutch bad right now.....i posted another thread on here a couple of days ago.....i have pretty much narrowed my search to a spec 3 and centerforce dual friction......my mods are in my sig with headers and true duals going on over x-mas......i am gonna be looking at around 400-410hp when its all said and done. My car is a daily driver and my only vehicle so i need something that is reliable. Just curious as to how long these clutches last....my car may see the track once every couple months at most. Anyone with similar setup....any help would be appreciated!!

i heard the spec 3 ranges from 5,000 miles to 20,000 miles max. Thats what i've heard. im personaly going to go with a stock LUK clutch that will last for a lot longer since it's OEM.

My spec hasn't been in my car for a year yet, and it's toasted. It's been less than 10K miles. Have you read about the horrendous shudder? I'm not a good 6spd driver in the first place, but man this clutch made me look bad. I think this shuddering clutch contribued to a lot of my interior rattles too.

Wish I had something else in the car. That something else is going to be a Ram clutch going in within the next few weeks.

I've had my spec 3 for 20,000 miles and no problems, hooks great on slicks and doesn't chatter. From what I've seen, breaking it in properly is what makes them last. I bogged it hard for 500 miles of town driving before I ever got aggressive with it.

How much horsepower are you putting out? It seems liking trying to find the right clutch is 10 times harder than trying to pick the right cam....and that was a bitch!! I have sooo many mixed reviews from people about clutches....if its really how you break it in that makes the difference than i will probably get a spec 3....but i definately don't want shuddering and the last thing i need to worry about while in school is changing out my clutch every 10,000 miles

lol sounds like he has a installation or a warped flywheel or the pilot bearing to shutter that bad . Its all the way you break them in . some people put them in and beat the **** out of them without breaking it in and say this clutch is **** it lasted 2000 miles gee i wonder why . ya i heard that tex clutch is badass but it costs a small fortune.

if your going with a spec pass up the stage 3 and go for the 4 it engages smoother than the 3. but i would pass up spec altogether.. i did that full breakin waited 500 miles before i put the pedal down and waited until i had 1000 miles before i sprayed on it. .it seems like all the other threads in here somebody has something BAD to say about spec clutches.

Yea I agree, I don't know how so many people would buy that clutch if it turned out like that, so its definately in the install or wasn't broken in properly etc... at least I hope this clutch really isn't that bad... his car pulls like a **** and the clutch grabs very hard without slip, it just shutters and the car has had so many rattles.

i installed my clutch EXACTLY how it should be done, i also broke it in properly. and all parts were brand new except the master which i did the drill mod on. yes it pulled like a raped ape, i could turn the dman tires over going into 4th without much effort. then all of a sudden she decided to take a **** on me, go figure. lately my car felt very inconsistent at high rpms and it didnt want to pull. figure out why when i went to speed up a little in 5th, rpms went up like the clutch pedal was to the floor.

My spec 3I is still hookin and bookin. Mine never got broke in. Went from the lift to the track and pulled a ton of 1.6 60ft.s and a dozen or so 1.5 60.ft. I also upgraded my hydro system and did the drill mod. If you search enough you will find that every clutch made for the LS1 sucks......lol
