T56 in a blown/cammed LQ9 4wd Silverado ECSB?
Hey all,
I just toasted my second 4L60E in my 01 Silverado Z71 ECSB, and I am thinking about going with a T56 rather than spending any more $$ on the auto. I don't really want to do the 4L80E swap either.
So...I want to know what needs to be done to a T56 to handle the weight and torque of a Radix'ed 6psi LQ9 motor with a 210/218-551/551-116 cam and 1.8 rockers (I'm estimating just under 600 flywheel hp, no idea what torque will be). I figure if I shoot for something that will hold 650-700 flywheel HP and a similar torque number I should have room to spare.
A second question is what it would take to mount a transfer case to the end of the T56. New output shaft? Custom tail housing? I don't know a lot about trannies so try to use small words
Thanks!

I'd rather do the 4L 80/85 swap.
But if you search I think there is some places that make custom end housing adaptors to mount transfer cases.
I though someone here or the truck forum has done this all ready?????
The clutch pedal mechanism & master mounting & the custom feed line is gonna be the fun part.
Sounds like a bad @ss set up though...

Well did some searching and it's gonna cost a fortune to do what I want, so back to the 4L60E or at most a 4L65E. Maybe when I run out of other things to do I'll tackle the 6 speed idea again. Plus, I have hopes now that it's a transfer case problem and not a tranny problem. Monday will see for sure.....thanks for the reply!

Well maybe it's feasible...I found a post, sounds like the tailhousing might have to be modified a bit and a custom output shaft made. I don't know a lot about machine work, anyone estimate how much this might cost?

MArk also explained to me how the spacer was configured. The Mustang T56 tailhousing is NOT shorter as I thought yet it is needed to relocate the shifter in a forward position as compared to the GM F-Body T56. The Ford T56 tailhousing uses different shifter linhage which will need to be used and 1-1/2" was machined from the rear of the tailhousing and the CNC machined adapter had to be jigged up to it using a dowel pin and then tig welded permanently to the tailhousing."
