I have a 02 5.3L block and a 02 T56. I am running the Z06 Flywheel/Clutch Package pt#12570806 and it bolted right up. So, the LS2 LS7 package will work for me too, right?
And does any one have comparison pics of all these different clutches and flywheels?

I just finished putting the ls7 clutch in mmy car and it feels like it has smooth engagement but the pedal seems to catch kinda low to the floor, about 1-2 inches off the floor...not sure if this is a bleeding issue or I remember reading that the ls7 clutches self adjust during break in.....wut would you say???

I've got about 500 miles on my LS7/LS2 combo. Mine is a '00 SS. I've had 3 clutches in my car in 37k miles. The first one started releasing too high for my taste(7.5k miles) and I then I put a LS6 unit in. I was real happy with the performance and pedal release point) but the clutch pedal started staying on the floor when spun up near redline. Got new hydraulics, new clutch and all was good until some more miles and the addition of headers and more power. Clutch woulld release real low(almost on floor) after a couple of gears of hard acceleration. One thing I noticed on this clutch was after the first hard acceleration when new, the pedal release was always higher. So I had the tranny out for some cold temp gear grinding(new synchros), so I thought I'd do the LS7/LS2 swap. I just changed the clutch and flywheel only. Like everyone has stated, the clutch did release real early, and sometimes seems a little "grabby" at times, but definately no chatter. Now that I have some miles on it, I have put a little more "abuse" on it, and the pedal release point has come up to normal. I have not track tested it, but it seems to hold real well. I'm please with the performance and feel.
....and I would suspect the LS7 flywheel may have different counterweighting.

ya I think I will take a mighty vac on the system just to be sure that it's properly bled, and I have to say it does seem pretty catchy, I nearly spun the tires while engaging in reverse, probably also cause it's about 10degrees out and I got some cold nitto drag radias on the back, and the pedal definately feels soft, more than I expected, it feels just like a stock clutch

Another guinea pig
I bet you feel like a guinea pig due to the Al flywheel/LS7 clutch issues.
1) How thick were the shims, and who has them?
2) Do you now know how to determine if you will need shims? I read in another post there is a measurement [flywheel to fingers I think].
3) Has anyone other than you chose the Fidanza/LS7 clutch assembly?
Thanks

I would hope the stock type ls7 clutch does not need shims. That would be an extra pain in the butt.
I am currently considering either an ls7 or textralia clutch for planned big power turbo project in my 99trans am.
The ls7 sounds good regarding no chatter and has taken a bit of power on that one car on dyno and spray. But not much track use yet with tracks being closed I guess most places.
Do many tracks start opening up soon.I want to see some good hard use on these ls7s.The ls6 turned out to be a not very good track clutch.
I know the textralia should be able to take more than the ls7 but still a bit worried about chatter.
But if you have to start shimming the ls7 to have it work right then not very interested in that one anymore.

1) SPEC shims, ~0.150"
2) The shops I spoke with could measure the distance, but didn't know what the distance should be.
3) I know Jon @ Speed Inc. has it, but he used the McLeod adjustable, which I no longer wanted.

PITA is if you could not drive your car until you pay someone drop the tranny again.
As I read the JM posts [correct me if I am wrong] is he is the only guy with the Al Fidanza/LS7 clutch who is posting about the experience.

Any update on this shim thing with fidanza flywheel? Anyone else have no problem with no shims and this combo.
Also I do have mcleod master and wonder how it would work with the textralia or ls7 clutch. It is a nice looking piece compared to the stock squeaky, wimpy piece of plastic.
I hope tracks open and we see some hard track use on the ls7.I have to decide on some clutch soon but want to make the right choice.
