Default M6 shifting issues....

Hey guys, I need your help..

Today I was driving a bit enthusiastically, I was going about 65-70 (at about 5800 RPM) in 2nd gear and rapidly shift to 3rd GRRRIINNNNDDDDDD... I mean it was loud. It scared the sh*t out of me.. I've done it a few times but it wasn't this loud.

The thing I have noticed though is that it happens when im driving the car relatively fast. I have done no powershifting and since i have bought the car i granny shift even when driving the car fast. I always press the clutch in fully and when i push the shifter into third it grinds. Today was about the 3rd or 4th time its happen.

My question is, what am I doing wrong, cuz it happens when i drive fast, im granny shifting, and got the clutch all the way down.. please help!

Am I really damaging the gearbox when it grinds like that??

I have the stock shifter, not the hurst...

Any advice and insight will be great appreciated...

PS: I was side by side with a fox body rustang with a huge cowl hood and a monster tach with a really loud exhaust, we started at a 40 roll, i was in 2nd gear, I punched it and we were side by side and at around 60-70mph I pulled on him!!!! but then when i granny shifted to third GRRRIINNNDDDD and i just backed off... he flew by.. i totally had this modded rustang... only if i didnt grind the gear!!! help!!!!
can someone explain double clutching and revmatching to me? is this good to do only when downshifting or does it help in upshifting as well?

sorry for the long post...

Downshifting only, not upshifting (although I hear talk that Steve McQueen double-clutch-upshited in Le Mans ... no idea how ...). Make sure you learn double clutch downshifting the right way:
4th to 3rd
Clutch in
neutral
clutch out
blip
clutch in
into 3rd
clutch out

Don't just rev it in neutral, you've gotta get off the clutch first. No idea on your grinding, dude, sorry.

I had the same problem.....most likely the shifter fork is bent and if you let it go for a while it will take the synchro with it, that is the worst case....if you have an aftermarket clutch that could also be causing the problem...if you still have warranty take it in, they will replace the trans... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
