My buddie has a 96 SS 6spd. Yesterday he noticed his reverse, fifth, and sixth gears were gone. Is there any explanation, or what might have happened? Is his Transmittion junk or will he be able to rebuild it? We know nothing about the internals of manual transmittions so any help would be nice..

Mabey this is a dumb idea but i know when i hooked up my skip shift eliminator i hooked it up to the wrong plug. I think it may have been for the reverse lock-out? Anyways my car would not go into reverse . Must have been because i had the plug un-plugged. Dont know if this helps but mabey you can check out the wires going into the tranny.

I'm not sure if this would cause your problem but it could have something to do with your 5th/6th Reverse synchronizer key or your 5th/6th Reverse Shift Shaft. Not sure how to go about fixing it though. TTT for ya.

The reverse , 5th and 6th drive gears are driven by the cluster extension. Sounds like you broke the 6 drive lugs there. At minimum, you will need a new cluster gear and the extension shaft.
