My SPEC Stage 3 Ceramic chattered till the end! I only got 24K out of it before it just one day failed. Never been to the track (hey, this is California) and drove it daily. Im not happy with SPEC and will not go back. My stock clutch lasted 70K, and Still had more time before the SPEC went in. My advise, Don't choose SPEC if you are looking at long term clutch replacement. LS7/LUK/LS6/Stock are about the best in the long run.
For those of you still on your SPEC in the 20-25K range, expect it to fail very soon. Save your Duckets now, cause one day soon, it will just not go into gear.

mcleod all the way, you get what you pay for, and they can be rebuilt for a reasonable amount!
we sell them at our shop, i exclusively recommend them! if it can take my abuse then it will work for most anything.

I had the Ram HD in there before and that thing I hated it. This clutch isn't near as stiff but once it grips you sure can tell. My friend who actually has a 2002 Trans AM WS6 has been using this clutch for awhile. He is running prolly around the 600 rwhp range. He is running a cam w/ all bolt ons and a 200 nx wet shot. He was the one who got me to get it because he had used Spec, Ram, and a few other brands and they seem to last no time he said. Then he put one of these in and has run it ever since.

centerforce dual friction here, holds great. im alil shy of the hp mark as of right now. unless you count my nitrous but havent used it yet so..idk about the other clutches but this one was heavier then the stocker.. something to consider. it feels same as the stocker smooth engagment light pedal pressure.. only complaint for me was weight this is one heavy of a pig clutch... but it should last being so heavy.

I like my RAM 910HD with VDS pressure plate on a Fidanza alum flywheel. I have to slip first gear a little bit or I get chatter/bucking by letting it out abruptly when driving in town; however after 20K miles, about 20 track passes, 4 days road racing, and the rest being "spirited" street driving it shows no signs of slipping. I have actually never smelled clutch ever.
This clutch grabs every gear very hard with no slippage. It is definately either on or off. Not silky smooth like stock... but I didn't want to have to change it out prematurely and the SPEC reputation simply sucks.
Bang for the buck RAM 910HD/VDS PP hands down.
440rwhp/2950lbs with driver n/a (TSP 233/239 cam/AFR heads/long tube headers/true 3" duals with Xpipe/cats) and 3:90 gears out back.

My 98 has 48K on the stock clutch & I used to (3yrs ago) spray a 100shot. When I side step the clutch at more than 2000rpms I spin the tires or the RPM's shoot up to 5500RPMS. I back out of the throttle a hair and bang the clutch will grab at 4800rpms. Run it up till 6K and slap the shifter like i hate it. All that being said, I cant possibly put my NOS back on till I address this clutch issue. Hell, I cant even put LCA's on the back to help hookup! What all will I have to up-grade if I were to choose a (everybody sells this clutch) Spec 3. I figure if the proper amount of time is taken to break it in and I go ahead and have my local shop put it in (me watching like a hawk) then I should be ok. I am not sold on the spec 3 idea, because it seems to be a hit or miss between drivers. Some hate it some love it???? I have been looking for a stright answer out of all of you for a while and I just cant get it. anyway, will I have to spend a bunch of money up-grading to a aluminum fly wheel, up-graded slave cylinder, etc....??? Thanks in advance.

Another vote for the Mcleod street twin. It is $350 for a rebuild, I checked on it last week.
I have used the spec stage 3 kevlar and Ram with sintered iron disc. Both were nice clutches, but the street twin has lasted longer holds just as good if not better, requires less pedal pressure, and doesn't shudder.

Got the LS7/LS2 setup. Great clutch. I dont have TOO much power so Im not really challenging it but its I really like it. Believe it or not, its a little too soft of a pedal for me.

i use a local clutch company and spent just $150 on the clutch disk. these things aren't anything new or special but ls1 performance parts are marked up to all hell.
btw, i've got 10k or so on it and a ton of abuse on slicks, that's t he only way i race
